Getting started
Account and settings
What each settings page controls, and where to change your email, password, connected accounts or delete your account
Your account has two places to manage things. Settings holds your HackathonRadar preferences. Account holds your sign-in details. Both are in the account menu, which opens when you click your name at the bottom of the sidebar.
Open settings
Choose Settings in the account menu, or go to /settings. It opens on Notifications. The settings menu lists six pages: Hack Passport, Notifications, Saved Search Notifications, API Access, Google Sheets and Webhooks. On a phone, the same pages show as a row of tabs at the top.
Pages for features above your plan still open, but show an upgrade prompt in place of their controls. See Plans and billing.
Hack Passport
/settings/passport edits your public profile and the events on it: username, display name, bio, location, links, the Public passport switch and the I'm open to… toggles. Below the profile, Events lists your entries with buttons to add, edit, remove or hide them. View public opens your passport as others see it.
If you have no passport yet, the page offers Create your passport. Full details: Set up your profile.
Notifications
/settings/notifications controls which emails and messages HackathonRadar sends you.
- What do you care about? A free-text box (for example "Women in tech / WIT hackathons in London.") that narrows new hackathon alerts to events matching what you write.
- Email. The master switch for all HackathonRadar email. Turning it off stops everything except essential account messages. While it is on, three switches control New hackathon alerts, Weekly digest and Product news & offers.
- Discord and Telegram. Paste a webhook URL to get new hackathon notifications in a channel, and press Send test to check it. These need a paid plan.
Every email type is explained in Email notifications.
Saved Search Notifications
/settings/saved-searches lists your saved searches, active ones first. The switch on each row turns its notifications on or off, and the badge reads Active or Paused. Click a row to choose channels: Email (your account email), Slack, Discord or Custom webhook. Delete view removes the saved search.
This page needs Dev Pro. Slack, Discord and custom webhooks need Enterprise. To create a saved search, filter Browse or Judge Opportunities and press Save search. See Saved searches and alerts.
API Access
/settings/api-access Enterprise creates and deletes API keys. Type a key name and press Generate. The full key shows once, so copy it before you leave the page. Each key in the list shows when it was created and last used. See Authentication and keys.
Google Sheets
/settings/google-sheets Pro Plus connects spreadsheets that fill with hackathon rows automatically. Add New Integration connects your Google account and lets you pick or create a sheet. Each integration syncs All Updates or Newly Seen Only, and has Open Sheet and Sync Now buttons. See Google Sheets sync.
Webhooks
/settings/webhooks Enterprise sends an HTTP POST to your URL when hackathons are discovered or updated. Enter the URL, choose All Updates or Newly Seen, add any custom headers your endpoint needs, then press Create Webhook. Each webhook can be switched between Active and Inactive or deleted. See Webhooks.
Your account: email, password and sign-in
Choose Account in the account menu to open your account profile. There you can:
- add or change your email address,
- set or change your password,
- connect or disconnect sign-in accounts, such as Google or GitHub,
- change your profile picture,
- delete your account.
Your profile picture is also your Hack Passport avatar. The passport picks up a new picture the next time you save your passport profile.
Billing & plan
Billing & plan in the account menu opens the billing tab of the same account profile. Upgrades, plan changes and cancellation are covered in Plans and billing.
Sign out
Sign out in the account menu signs you out and returns you to the homepage.
