Agent skills

Install open-source hackathon skills in Claude Code or another AI coding agent to plan, run, judge and take part in hackathons

Agent skills are reusable workflows built from real hackathon experience. You install them in your AI coding agent, and the agent follows them when you ask for help with a matching task, such as reviewing a judging rubric or planning a budget. Browse the collection at /skills. It is free and needs no HackathonRadar account.

What a skill is

Each skill is a folder with a SKILL.md file: a short description of when to use it, followed by step-by-step instructions. Some skills also ship supporting files, such as reference checklists or templates. Your agent reads a skill on demand, when your request matches what the skill describes, so you do not need to call it by name.

Skills are open source and maintained by HackathonRadar. The collection lives on GitHub at github.com/slarsendisney/skills, and /skills picks up new skills from it automatically.

/skills always shows the current list. A skill marked deprecated shows a warning on its page and may no longer be maintained.

Install the collection

The install command on /skills adds the whole collection:

Terminal
npx skills add slarsendisney/skills

Run it in a terminal, from the project where you use your agent. It works with Claude Code and other compatible AI coding agents. Every skill page shows the same command, because it installs the full set rather than a single skill.

Once installed, ask for what you need in plain words. For example: "Review this judging rubric for fairness" or "Plan a budget for a 150-person weekend hackathon."

Install a single skill by hand

To add just one skill, open its page and use View raw SKILL.md to get the file. Save it in your agent's skills folder inside a folder named after the skill. In Claude Code, that is .claude/skills/<skill-name>/SKILL.md in your project. If the page lists Supporting resources, download those into the same folder so the skill can find them.

Each skill page

A skill page at /skills/<slug> shows:

  • The skill's name, description, version, audiences and categories.
  • When it was last updated.
  • The install command with a copy button.
  • View source on GitHub and View raw SKILL.md links.
  • The full instructions the agent follows, so you can read them before installing.
  • Supporting resources, when the skill has extra files.

If the list is empty

If /skills shows "Skills are temporarily unavailable", the page could not reach GitHub. Use View the collection on GitHub to browse the same skills directly, or try again later.
