API
Saved views and reports
List and create saved views over the API, what their filters match, how they drive alerts, and how opportunity report links work
A saved view is a reusable search over upcoming hackathons: a name, a set of filters and an optional plain-language query, stored on your account. Saved views are the same objects as saved searches in the app, so anything you create over the API also appears at /saved-searches. Both endpoints need an API key. See Authentication and keys.
List your saved views
GET /api/v1/saved-views returns every saved search on your account, newest first, including the ones made in the app.
curl https://www.hackathonradar.com/api/v1/saved-views \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $HACKATHONRADAR_API_KEY"{
"saved_views": [
{
"id": "0b8d6c1e-4f7a-4a51-9a0e-2c6f4f9a7d31",
"name": "UK AI hackathons",
"query": "applied AI and machine learning",
"filters": { "region": "United Kingdom", "category": "AI/ML", "minParticipants": 100 },
"created_at": "2026-10-20T09:15:00.000Z"
}
]
}Create a saved view
POST /api/v1/saved-views takes a name (required), an optional query and an optional filters object, and returns { "saved_view": { ... } } with status 201.
curl -X POST https://www.hackathonradar.com/api/v1/saved-views \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $HACKATHONRADAR_API_KEY" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{
"name": "UK AI hackathons",
"query": "applied AI and machine learning",
"filters": { "region": "United Kingdom", "category": "AI/ML", "minParticipants": 100 }
}'A missing or blank name returns 400 name is required, and a body that is not valid JSON returns 400 Invalid JSON body.
Filters a view can hold
Every filter is optional. Leave one out to leave that dimension open.
| Filter | Type | Matches |
|---|---|---|
country | string | Country contains this text, ignoring case |
region | string | One of North America, United Kingdom, Europe, APAC, Latin America, Middle East & Africa. Expands to that region's countries |
city | string | The city slug from a /discover city page URL |
type | string | online, in-person or hybrid |
category | string | Exact category tag, such as AI/ML |
studentOnly | boolean | true for student-only events, false to exclude them |
minPrizeUsd | number | Prize pool in USD at least this |
minQualityScore | number | data_quality_score at least this, on a 0 to 100 scale |
minParticipants | number | Participant count at least this |
query is a plain-language description of what you care about. When it is set, alerts only include events that fit the description as well as the filters. Filters are not checked when you save, and an unknown key or a value of the wrong type has no effect, so check your spelling.
Alerts start straight away
A view created over the API starts Active with email on, so HackathonRadar emails your account when newly listed hackathons match it. To pause it, change its channels or delete it, use /settings/saved-searches. The API has no update or delete endpoint. See Saved searches and alerts for how alerts work.
Opportunity reports
An opportunity report is a shareable page of upcoming hackathons worth sponsoring for one company, built from a saved view. Report links have the form https://www.hackathonradar.com/r/<token>.
- The page is a snapshot from the moment the link was made. It does not update.
- Anyone with the link can open it without an account. It is not indexed by search engines.
- The page offers a CSV download of the same events.
Reports are prepared by the HackathonRadar team. To get one for your company, contact us.
