Finding hackathons
Hackathon pages
What each hackathon page shows, where the register button goes, which blocks need a paid plan, and how fresh the data is
Every hackathon HackathonRadar tracks has its own public page at /database/hackathon/{slug}. Older links that use the event's ID redirect to the slug address. You do not need an account to read a hackathon page.
Panel or full page
From Browse or a collection, clicking an event opens a preview panel over the list. The panel has the same core content as the page and an Open full page button at the top. Opening the link directly, from search, a shared URL or an email, always loads the full page.
The header
The top of the page shows:
- Title and a status badge: Upcoming, Live or Past.
- Dates: the start date, the end date when it differs, and how long the event runs. Events without dates read Dates TBD.
- Location: Online, the venue, city and country, or the place plus "+ online" for hybrid events. Events without a location read Location TBD.
- Organizer: who runs the event, with a Verified organizer badge on listings claimed by their organizer.
- Listed from: the platform the event is hosted on.
- Categories: the topic tags, the same tags the Categories filter matches.
Two notices appear when they apply. Student only means the event is only open to students; check the event page, as this can mean one university or country. Vibe-code friendly means the event welcomes AI coding tools like Cursor, Claude, v0 and bolt.new; check the rules for what is allowed.
Facts and description
A strip under the header shows four facts. Anything the platform does not publish reads TBD.
| Fact | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Format | Online, In person or Hybrid |
| Participants | The participant count from the platform |
| Prize pool | The total prize pool in the listed currency |
| Est. projects | A rough estimate of how many projects get submitted |
Below it, About shows the event description, and Sponsors shows each sponsor's logo, name and website. On wide screens a side column repeats the dates, location and organizer (plus Who can take part for student-only events), followed by Similar hackathons and a Feature this hackathon card for organizers and sponsors (see Feature your hackathon).
Register and save
The main button sends you to the platform the event is hosted on:
- Register on and the platform name, when there is one listing.
- View listing, a menu with a View on link per platform, when the event is listed on more than one platform.
- Visit listing when the event only has its own website.
The first time you leave HackathonRadar this way, a Before you continue dialog reminds you that HackathonRadar is not the organizer and suggests you research the organizer before taking part. Click Continue to and the platform name. Your browser remembers the choice.
Under the button are four tiles:
| Tile | What it does |
|---|---|
| Favourite | Adds the event to your favorites. Needs a free account |
| Calendar | Adds the dates to Google Calendar, Outlook or Apple Calendar |
| Passport | Adds the event to your Hack Passport |
| Share | Copies the page link |
On a phone the register button moves to a bar pinned to the bottom of the screen, with the prize and dates.
Plan-gated blocks
Some blocks only show on paid plans. The ones you cannot see are listed on one locked card at the end of the page, with the plan that unlocks each. Signed-out visitors get a Create free account button there, everyone else a link to pricing.
| Block | What it shows | Plan |
|---|---|---|
| Judge Accessibility | A score out of 100 with a label (Likely open, Worth reaching out or Probably closed) that tells you how open the event is likely to be to a new judge. See The accessibility score | Dev Pro |
| Organizers | Organizer names with email, LinkedIn and Instagram where found. See Organizer directory and contacts | Pro Plus |
| Sponsor contacts | A contact line under each sponsor | Enterprise |
| Estimated Audience | Who the event is likely designed for, such as mostly students or professionals, and at what experience level. It is an estimate, not attendee data. See Audience profiles | Enterprise |
| Quality Score | A 0 to 100 rating of how well the event is presented and evidenced on its listing, useful for shortlisting. See Quality scores | Enterprise |
If a block is unlocked but the event has no data for it, the block says so, for example No organizers listed for this hackathon.
Hosted events
Hackathons hosted on HackathonRadar show a Hosted on Radar badge. Their page is run by the organizer on HackathonRadar, so it can include a cover image, challenges and prizes, and registration on HackathonRadar itself instead of a link out.
How fresh the data is
The line Data fetched … ago under the register button shows when HackathonRadar last updated this event. A change on the platform can take up to a day to appear here.
If a date, prize or location looks wrong, the platform's own page has the final word: use the register button to check it. Organizers can correct their own event by claiming the listing at /claim. To add a missing event, see Get your hackathon listed.
For what terms such as "student hackathon", "featured hackathon" and "quality score" mean, see the definitions page.
When a page is not found
Hackathon Not Found means the event was removed or the link is mistyped. Click Back to Database and search for it by name.
