Hack Passport

Set up your Hack Passport

Create your passport, choose a username, add events and control what is public

Creating a passport takes two short steps: claim a username, then add your first hackathon. After that you manage everything from /settings/passport. You need a HackathonRadar account, on any plan.

Create your passport

Start from Passport in the sidebar, the Create your passport button on the Hack Passport page, or /passport/onboarding directly. If you are signed out, you sign in first and come back here.

  1. Create your Hack Passport

Fill in Username, Display name, Home country and, optionally, Home city. The username and display name come prefilled from your account. If you signed in with GitHub, your GitHub link is added for you. Press Create my passport.
  2. Add your first hackathon

Search for the event by name or city. If it is not in the database, choose Can't find it? Add it manually and type the event name and an optional URL. Pick Your role, then press Add to my passport. Skip for now moves on without an entry.
  3. Your passport is live

You see the stamps you just earned and a few still to unlock. View my passport opens your public page.

New passports are public. If you already have a passport with entries, the setup page sends you to your passport instead.

Choose a username

Your username is the last part of your URL: /passport/{username}. It is 3 to 30 characters of letters, numbers, hyphens and underscores, and it must not be taken. The field tells you as you type whether a name is free.

You can change your username later in settings. Your passport then moves to the new URL and the old one stops working, so update any links you have shared.

Edit your profile

The Profile section of /settings/passport has every field:

FieldNotes
Username, Display nameDisplay name is required
BioA short line about you
City, CountryYour home country decides which events count as international for stamps
Website, GitHub, LinkedInMust be full URLs, such as https://github.com/you
Public passportOff hides your whole passport
I'm open to…Judging, Mentoring, Teaming up, Speaking. Each one you turn on shows as a badge on your passport

Your avatar is your account profile picture. To change it, update the picture in Account, then save your passport profile again.

Press Save changes when you are done.

Add events

You can add an entry three ways:

  • Add entry in the Events section of /settings/passport, or on your own passport page.
  • The passport icon on any hackathon page (its tooltip reads Add to Passport). Dates and location fill in from the event. If you have no passport yet, it takes you to setup first.
  • The first step of setup.

Each entry has:

  • Your role: Hacker, Judge, Mentor, Organizer, Volunteer, Speaker, Sponsor rep or Attendee.
  • Start date, End date, City, Country: filled in for you when you link an event from the database.
  • Project & result (hackers only, optional): How did it go? with 1st, 2nd and 3rd place and Finalist shortcuts, or your own result text, plus team name, project name and project, demo and repo URLs.
  • Notes / memory: free text.
  • Public entry: on by default.
  • Featured project (hackers only): shows the project at the top of your passport.

Each event from the database can be on your passport once.

Control what is public

SettingEffect
Public passport offYour passport URL shows "Passport not found" to everyone, including you. Search engines stop indexing it.
Public entry offThe entry is hidden from your public page and its counts, and stays in settings.
Hide (eye icon)For organizer-verified entries, which you cannot edit or delete. See Stamps and verification.

Edit or remove an entry

In the Events list in settings, the pencil edits an entry and the bin removes it. Your stamps update to match.
