How good is your hackathon listing?

We score the same way we score every event in our database: organizer track record, event readiness, sponsor appeal, participant experience and listing quality. You get the breakdown, the gaps, and where you sit against comparable events.

Built from 10,676 tracked hackathons, 12,349 quality scores, 12,237 organizers and 6,010 sponsors.

What we measure

  • Organizer track record: whether this organizer has run events before, and how many.
  • Event readiness: how far ahead you announced, and whether the agenda, judging criteria and format are actually published.
  • Sponsor appeal: sponsors named on the page, and whether there are sponsor challenges to back.
  • Participant experience: how someone registers, whether capacity is stated, and how clearly you say who the event is for.
  • Listing quality: prize pool and its breakdown, code of conduct, venue or platform, a working website.
  • The five dimensions are not weighted equally, and we don't publish the weights. A score you can reverse-engineer is a score people optimise instead of a listing they improve. Your result ranks the gaps by how much each one would move the number.

Questions

Does this score whether the hackathon is any good?

No. It scores how well the event is presented and evidenced on its page. A great event with a thin listing will score low, and that gap is usually worth fixing, because participants and sponsors judge the page too.

Where does the comparison come from?

From the events we already track and score. Every percentile names the cohort it used and how many events are in it.
