About this hackathon

The Department of Information Technology, SGSITS, is organizing HackIndore 4.0, a 24-hour National Hackathon that brings together students from diverse academic backgrounds to design, build, and demonstrate technology-driven solutions to real-world challenges. The event provides participants with an opportunity to apply their technical knowledge, creativity, and problem-solving skills to develop practical solutions within a competitive hackathon environment. The hackathon is designed as an intensive, hands-on building experience where participants will identify challenges, develop innovative approaches, create functional prototypes, and present their solutions within a limited timeframe. Teams will work on real-world problem statements across multiple technology domains, supported by mentors and evaluated by an expert panel of judges. Building on the success of HackIndore 3.0, the 4th edition introduces a continuous 24-hour development experience, challenging teams to transform their ideas into working prototypes through collaboration, rapid development, and effective execution under real hackathon conditions. Event Details: Event Name: HackIndore 4.0 Organized by: Department of Information Technology, SGSITS Mode: Offline (Final Round) | Online Screening (Round 1) Venue: Shri G.S. Institute of Technology & Science, Indore Registration Fee: ₹360 per team Hackathon Dates: 27th–28th September 2026 Purpose of the Event: The primary objective of HackIndore 4.0 is to provide an intensive platform where students can transform ideas into practical technology solutions. The event will help participants: Strengthen their problem-solving and analytical abilities Enhance their technical, creative, and design capabilities Collaborate effectively and develop solutions under tight deadlines Gain hands-on experience in building and demonstrating functional prototypes Develop the ability to present technical solutions clearly and convincingly Themes: Participants can explore diverse domains, real-world challenges, and emerging areas of technology across the following themes: Agentic AI & Intelligent Systems: Building AI-powered solutions that can understand, reason, make decisions, and perform tasks with minimal human intervention. Cybersecurity: Developing solutions that protect individuals, organizations, and digital systems from cyber threats, vulnerabilities, and risks. FinTech: Creating technology-driven solutions that address modern financial needs, services, and challenges. Tech for Life: Using technology to address challenges in healthcare, accessibility, safety, wellbeing, and everyday life. Robotics & Physical Computing: Building technologies that interact with the physical world, including robots, electronic systems, and hardware-based solutions. Smart Cities, Mobility & Infrastructure: Developing solutions that improve urban transportation, public infrastructure, essential services, and the way cities function. Everyday India – Daily Social Problems: Solving everyday problems faced by people across India through practical, affordable, and scalable technology. Open Innovation: Exploring solutions to problems and opportunities across diverse domains, with the freedom to innovate beyond the defined themes. Problem Statements Releasing on 7th September 2026. Note: Shortlisted teams must develop and demonstrate their prototype on-site during the 24-hour offline hackathon. The core solution must be developed during the hackathon, and pre-built projects cannot be submitted as final solutions. Eligibility: Open to all students currently enrolled in undergraduate programs, irrespective of discipline. Each participant must carry a valid Identity Proof/Student ID for verification. Registrations are open to inter-college, inter-branch, and inter-university teams. Event Rounds: Idea Submission (Online Screening): Participants will submit a detailed presentation outlining their understanding of the problem, proposed solution, methodology, innovation, and feasibility. 24-Hour Offline Hackathon: The top 30 shortlisted teams will report to the SGSITS campus and develop a working prototype during 24 continuous hours of intensive building and collaboration. Final Presentation: Teams will present and demonstrate their completed prototype while explaining their approach, implementation, innovation, and potential real-world impact to the judges. Judging Criteria: Projects will be evaluated on: Relevance to the problem statement Originality and creativity Technical approach and quality of execution Practicality, feasibility, scalability, and potential impact Quality of presentation and demonstration Rules All submissions and solutions must be original. The core solution must be developed during the hackathon. Submitting existing projects or substantially pre-built solutions, or copying from other sources, will lead to disqualification. Participants must bring their own laptops and any hardware required for their solution. Participants must comply with all event guidelines and maintain professional and ethical conduct throughout the event. Any changes to the rules, schedule, or event format will be communicated to registered participants. Prizes & Certificates With a total prize pool of ₹40,000, the top teams will be rewarded for their innovation, technical execution, and overall performance: Winner: ₹20,000 cash First Runner-Up: ₹12,000 cash Second Runner-Up: ₹8,000 cash All Finalists: Participation Certificate + Stickers All Participants: Participation Certificate Bring your ideas.
