About this hackathon
Unleash Your Culinary Creativity in Code
Join the 4th Edition of Foodoscope ForkIT Challenge, a hackathon uniting developers, students, and innovators to explore the world of computational gastronomy!
Event Details at a Glance:
Type: 24-hour Hackathon
Date: 14-15th November 2026
The challenge is hosted by:
IIIT Delhi's CoSy Lab, known for cutting-edge research in complex systems
The Challenge: Innovate with Flavor and Data
Participants must create innovative software projects (web or mobile) that push the boundaries of computational gastronomy.Your creativity will revolve around three exclusive APIs developed by CoSy Lab:
RecipeDB: A detailed database of recipes and cooking instructions
FlavorDB: A rich collection of flavor profiles, compound data, and ingredient pairings
CocktailDB: A comprehensive database of cocktail recipes with ingredient information, nutritional data, preparation instructions, and dietary filters
Note: To use CocktailDB, all team members must be 18+ years old. Teams opting for CocktailDB must declare this at registration, and every member's age will be verified with a valid ID at the on-site finale.
Use these to build anything from personalized recipe recommenders, diet-aware systems, ingredient substitution engines, and drink-pairing tools to AI-driven flavor-pairing applications. Let your imagination cook!
Mandatory for Winners: Winning teams must present their prototype in person at the Annual Symposium on Computational Gastronomy (GastroSym 2026), 12th December 2026, IIIT Delhi. Symposium details: iiitd.ac.in/gastrosym2026
Why Participate?
Exclusive Access: Work with CoSy Lab's proprietary APIs (RecipeDB, FlavorDB and CocktailDB) to build real-world applications.
Industry & Research Connections: Meet researchers and industry experts in computational gastronomy. Winning teams will present their prototypes at the Annual Symposium on Computational Gastronomy (GastroSym 2026) at IIIT Delhi, giving your team great visibility.
Comfort & Support: Enjoy continuous refreshments and overnight accommodation to keep your energy and creativity high through the 24-hour sprint.
Opportunity: Exceptional participants may also be considered for internship opportunities, based on the quality of their work.
