About this hackathon
Overview
Data Quest 3.0 is a data-driven hackathon focused on solving real-world challenges through data analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, visualization, and predictive modeling. Participants will work with data to uncover insights, build intelligent solutions, and create impactful innovations across domains such as business, healthcare, sustainability, finance, education, and social development.
Round 1 — Data Insight Challenge
Participants will choose a dataset, industry problem, organization, startup, or social challenge and submit a short 4–6 slide presentation covering:
Context: What is the problem or domain?
Data: What data is available and why is it relevant?
Challenge: Identify a key issue, trend, or opportunity hidden within the data.
Approach: Explain how analytics, AI, ML, or data science can address the challenge.
Solution: Propose a potential model, dashboard, framework, or MVP.
Impact: Explain how the solution can create measurable value, efficiency, sustainability, or social impact.
Participants must use reliable data sources, research-backed insights, creativity, and provide proper citations for all references.
Only participants shortlisted from Round 1 will be eligible for the offline hackathon.
Round 2 — Offline Hackathon
Shortlisted participants will compete in a 24-hour offline hackathon at VIT Chennai, transforming their ideas into functional data-driven solutions and prototypes.
Venue: VIT Chennai
Teams will analyze data, develop models, create visualizations, build solutions, validate findings, and present their results. Evaluation will focus on:

Real-World Impact
Participants are encouraged to leverage AI/ML frameworks, analytics tools, visualization platforms, cloud technologies, and open datasets to build scalable and impactful solutions.

Only participants shortlisted from Round 1 can attend the offline round.
