About this hackathon
Amazon ML Challenge is a two-stage competition where students from all engineering campuses across India will get a unique opportunity to work on Amazon’s dataset to bring in fresh ideas and build innovative solutions for a real-world problem statement. The top three winning teams will receive cash prizes and certificates.
Eligibility and Team Rules:
This competition is open to all students pursuing PhD/ M.E./M.Tech./ M.S./MS by Research/B.E./B.Tech. full-time degree across all engineering campuses in India.
Graduation Year: 2027 or 2028
Each team must consist of a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 4 members.
Each team must have a team leader.
Cross-college teams are allowed.
One student cannot be a member of more than one team.
Competition Structure:
Stage 0: Join the AWS Builder Center
Before registering for the ML Challenge 2026, participants are required to create their AWS Builder Center Profile ID. Please refer to the setup guide for step-by-step instructions on creating your AWS Builder Center Profile ID and completing the required setup before registration - Click Here
Stage 1 – Registration (7th - 20th September)
Participants are required to register for the challenge.
Participants must provide a valid AWS Builder Center Profile ID alias during registration.
Participants with an invalid alias will have an incomplete registration.
Participants must form a team of 3–4 members to participate in the challenge.
Stage 2 – ML Challenge | 72-Hour Hackathon (25th – 27th September)
All teams will get access to the problem statement with the dataset on day 1 and will have time to build and submit solutions till day 3.
Teams can track their performance through the leaderboard, which will reflect team rankings live over the course of this challenge.
Each team should upload a document between 1 and 2 pages detailing their approach to the solution, along with a zipped file containing the code, script, or notebook.
Stage 3 - Grand Finale (7th October):
Based on the leaderboard results and the solution presented in the document at the end of Round 1, the top 10 teams will be invited to the Grand Finale to present their solutions to Amazon's Scientists. The finale will be hosted live virtually on 7th October 2026.
Credits and Rewards:
The winners will be rewarded with a cash prize of INR 1,00,000/-, certificates and goodies.
The first runners-up will be rewarded with a cash prize of INR 75,000/-, certificates and goodies.
The second runners-up will be rewarded with a cash prize of INR 50,000/-, certificates and goodies.
Build More with $200 in Credits: All registered participants will receive $200 worth of credits to explore, experiment, and build using the available resources as part of the challenge.
Top 500 Get Additional $100 in Credits: At the 48-hour mark of the challenge, the Top 500 teams will receive $100 worth of credits, giving them additional resources to take their ideas further and continue building.
Certificates and exclusive Amazon SWAGs for the top 10 teams and top 10 women-only teams.
The top 50 teams in the Amazon ML Challenge will be rewarded with Pre-Placement Interviews (PPIs) for the role of Applied Scientist Intern at Amazon.
