Circuit City Heist is a multi-stage electronics competition held at the TAN Building, Thapar University, designed to test students' technical proficiency and strategic engineering skills. The event begins with a conceptual phase where participants design solutions on paper without digital aids, followed by a digital validation round using simulation software to ensure logic and functionality. Teams then navigate a unique "Component Auction," managing a virtual budget to bid strategically for the sensors and parts needed to optimize their designs. The competition culminates in a final hardware implementation phase, where teams transition from virtual models to physical, working prototypes for judging.
Details:
Round 1 – Concept & Paper Design: Teams must design a circuit solution on paper using a restricted component list without any digital assistance, followed by a defensive Q&A session with judges.
Round 2 – Digital Simulation: Qualified participants must transition their paper designs into a functional virtual environment using TinkerCAD to prove their circuit logic works.
Round 3 – Component Auction: This strategic phase requires teams to use a set budget to bid on specialized sensors and hardware, determining the final capabilities of their physical build.
Round 4 – Hardware Implementation: In the final stage, teams assemble their auctioned components into a physical prototype and demonstrate a fully working hardware solution to the judging panel.
The registration fee is fully inclusive (Rs. 150 Per Person), covering both your stay and all hardware required for the competition. This fee covers on-campus accommodation and all component kits, including any parts acquired during the auction round. With all logistics and technical resources provided, teams can focus entirely on the challenge without any additional or hidden costs.
