About The Competition:
A server has crashed, services are failing, and the logs contain clues. Can you identify the root cause?
Server Crash: Who Killed the Server? is a technical investigation challenge designed to test participants' troubleshooting abilities, logical reasoning, server fundamentals, and basic cybersecurity knowledge.
Participants will investigate a simulated server incident using organizer-provided logs, error reports, system information, and other technical evidence. Their objective is to identify the most likely cause of the failure, justify their diagnosis with evidence, and recommend an effective recovery plan.
Eligibility:
Open to B.Tech and BCA students from Vaish College of Engineering and other eligible colleges and universities.
Participants must provide accurate academic and contact information during registration.
Any additional eligibility requirements will be communicated by the organizers.
Proposed Competition Format:
Round 1: Incident Investigation
Participants analyze a simulated incident report and identify relevant clues from the provided evidence.
Round 2: Root-Cause Analysis
Qualified participants investigate a more detailed set of logs or a controlled troubleshooting scenario and propose a solution.
Final Evaluation:
Participants explain their findings, supporting evidence, and recommended preventive measures to the judges.
The number of rounds, problem statements, duration, and qualification criteria will be confirmed by the organizers before the competition.
Team Formation:
Team size and individual participation rules will be announced by the organizers. Inter-college and inter-specialization team participation must follow the final event rules.
