Description:
QCTF – Quantum Capture the Flag is a technical competition that combines Capture the Flag-style problem-solving with quantum-computing concepts. Teams receive a collection of challenges in which they must analyze information, solve technical problems, interpret quantum concepts, decode clues or complete computational tasks to obtain hidden flags.
Depending on the final challenge design, problems may involve quantum circuits, Qiskit programming, probability, quantum information, cryptography, logic, debugging, data interpretation or other related areas. A qualification round can identify teams ready for the main competition and control the number of teams entering the final stage.
The final CTF should contain clearly defined challenges, point values, submission rules, time limits and a mechanism for verifying flags.
Teams can divide tasks among members according to their strengths, making communication and collaborative problem solving important. Scoring should primarily use verified flags and published point values, with time used as a tie-break only where specified in advance. The event is intended for participants who want a technical and challenge-driven quantum experience, with clear instructions on permitted knowledge, tools and resources.
Duration:
Total Duration: 90–120 minutes
Rules & Guidelines:
Participants must compete as teams.
The exact team size will be specified by the organizers before registration closes.
Teams must complete the Qualification CTF before proceeding to the final challenge.
The qualification round may be used to shortlist teams for the final competition.
Each challenge will have clearly defined instructions, point values and submission requirements.
Teams must submit the correct flag through the designated submission mechanism to receive points.
Only verified flags will be counted toward the team's score.
Challenges may involve Python, Qiskit, quantum circuits, probability, quantum information, cryptography, logic, debugging and data interpretation.
Teams may divide challenges among members according to their individual strengths.
Team members may communicate and collaborate with each other during the competition.
Teams must use only the tools, software, resources and references permitted by the organizers.
Any prohibited external assistance, unauthorized access, interference with other teams or attempts to manipulate the competition system may result in disqualification.
Teams must respect the announced time limit and submission deadline.
Scores will primarily be determined by the number and point value of successfully verified flags.
Time-based tie-breaking may be used only if announced before the competition.
Teams must not share flags or solutions with other participating teams during the competition.
Organizers may provide additional technical instructions, challenge-specific rules or resource restrictions before the event.
The organizers' decision regarding challenge verification, scoring and final results will be final.
