NewYear X Thon 2K27, organized by Brainwaves, is a team-based online hackathon designed to encourage innovation, technical problem-solving, collaboration, and practical software development. The competition provides participants with an opportunity to transform ideas into functional prototypes while demonstrating their technical knowledge, analytical abilities, presentation skills, and teamwork. Eligibility and Team Formation Participants must register as a team of 3 to 4 members. Teams should have an interest in software development, technology, problem-solving, and innovation. Each team member is expected to actively contribute to the development and presentation of the proposed solution. Teams must complete their registration before the specified registration deadline. Participants are expected to follow all competition guidelines and submission requirements throughout the event. Competition Format The competition will be conducted through multiple stages: Stage 1: Problem Statement and PPT Submission The official problem statement and presentation template will be provided to registered teams. Teams must analyze the given problem, develop a suitable solution approach, and prepare their presentation using the prescribed template. The completed presentation must be submitted through the designated platform within the specified deadline. Stage 2: Shortlisting Submitted presentations will be reviewed as part of the selection process. Shortlisted teams will be notified through their registered email addresses and will receive further instructions regarding participation in the Grand Finale. Stage 3: Grand Finale – 42-Hour Online Hackathon Shortlisted teams will participate in a continuous 42-hour online hackathon from 29 December 2026 to 31 December 2026. During this stage, teams will develop their proposed solution into a functional working prototype. Teams will be expected to demonstrate effective collaboration, technical implementation, problem-solving, innovation, and time management throughout the hackathon. Final Submission Requirements Before the Grand Finale deadline, each team must submit: Source code or code repository Working live demonstration link Final presentation deck Any additional materials specified by the organizers All submissions must be original work created by the participating team and must comply with the competition guidelines. Awards and Recognition The following categories will be recognized: Winner 1st Runner-Up 2nd Runner-Up Best All-Girls Team Most Innovative Prototype Participation Certificate Award recipients will receive official certificates and applicable digital recognition. Selected winning and recognized teams may also be featured through Brainwaves' official communication and social media channels. General Rules Participants are expected to: Follow all instructions and deadlines communicated by the organizers. Submit accurate and complete information during registration. Ensure that all submitted work is original and developed by the participating team. Maintain professional conduct throughout the competition. Ensure that all team members contribute appropriately to the project. Submit the required code, presentation, and demonstration materials within the specified timeframe. Comply with any additional rules or technical instructions communicated by Brainwaves during the competition.
