About this hackathon
Line-O-Mania is a robotics contest where teams build autonomous robot capable of following a pre-defined path on a contrast background. The track will be black and white and include challenges such as bends, loop, sharp turns, junctions, dotted lines, and dead-ends. The bots will require precise navigation to reach the end point in the shortest possible time. In addition, a special element will be introduced in the track, which will be disclosed only on the day of the event, adding an extra layer of challenge and unpredictibility.
Team Formation Rules:
One participant cannot be in more than one team.
Each team must have a unique team name.
No restriction on the number of teams from a college.
Inter-college teams are allowed.
Only one member selected by the team will be allowed to perform hand touch to the bot (if required)
Each team must appoint a Team Leader (all communication via leader).
Team Leader must be present during the run.
Track Specifications:
Track layout will be disclosed on the spot.
Line: 3cm wide on black and white contrast track.
Start and end points will be different.
Track material: Flex sheets made of PVC
Bot Specifications:
Robots must be completely autonomous, no remote controlled bots allowed.
Pre-run inspection will be conducted.
No pneumatics, hydraulics, or harmful mechanisms allowed.
No pre-made kits or Lego kits permitted.
Maximum DC voltage ≤ 12V between any two circuit points.
If the bot malfunctions, a short repair timeout of 30 secs can be opted for. Runtime will resume after 30 seconds or whenever the team is ready.
Conduction Rules:
Damaging the arena will lead to instant disqualification.
If the bot leaves the track or requires intervention → restart from the previous checkpoint. Only Five (5) such penalties are allowed. After the 5th penalty the bot will get disqualified.
1 minute allowed for sensor calibration before run; timer starts regardless after this.
Violation of rules may lead to disqualification.
The judge's decision will be final and binding.
Misbehaviour will lead to immediate disqualification.
Judging & Scoring:
Scoring System: (600 - Time taken in seconds) - (Penalties + Skips)
Bonus points for completing the track.
Skipped checkpoints = time penalty
Maximum 2 figures/obstacles can be skipped; beyond that, all figures/obstacles have to be cleared or the team may choose to end their run.
If the bot exits the arena, the team will have to restart from their last checkpoint with a penalty.
