In this head-to-head robotics challenge, two teams go wheel-to-wheel in a sumo-style match, each piloting a custom-built, wirelessly controlled robot. The objective is simple: push your opponent's robot completely outside the competition ring while keeping your own robot in play. Success comes down to robot control, strategy, stability, and quick decision-making under pressure. Guidelines Team & Robot Specifications Team Size: 2 participants per team Maximum Dimensions: 350 × 350 mm (L × B) Maximum Weight: 3 kg Maximum Voltage: 3S LiPo, 12.6 V (fully charged) Control: Fully wireless, manual control only — autonomous robots are not permitted The robot must carry its own onboard power source (no external power during the match) IC engines and compressors are strictly prohibited Pre-Event Inspection Teams must report to the arena at least 30 minutes before their scheduled match Every robot undergoes a mandatory technical inspection and weigh-in before competing A robot that fails to meet the dimension, weight, power, or control specifications will not be allowed to compete Match Rules One robot competes against one opposing robot in a knockout format The arena is a circular sumo ring approximately 1.5–2 metres in diameter A robot is "out" the moment any part of it touches the floor outside the ring Each match lasts a maximum of 5 minutes If a robot loses power or stops functioning mid-match, it is automatically disqualified from that match, and the opponent advances Judging Criteria If neither robot is eliminated within the 5-minute time limit, the referee will decide the winner based on: Aggression – which robot consistently initiated attacks or pushes Strategy – effectiveness of tactics used to push the opponent or avoid being pushed Control – which robot maintained the best control of its movements and positioning Disqualification The following will result in immediate disqualification: Fire or flame-based systems Projectile systems Chemical or corrosive substances RF interference or signal-disruption devices Any mechanism designed to injure a person Exceeding the published dimension, weight, or voltage limits Using a wired controller or autonomous operation Poor social conduct, misbehaviour, foul/abusive language, unsportsmanlike conduct, or intentional damage to the ring/campus property The Event Jury/Referee/Technical Committee holds final authority on all match outcomes, penalties, safety decisions, and rule interpretation.
