Helmholtz GPU Hackathon

Together with NVIDIA and OpenACC organization, Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden Rossendorf (HZDR), and Forschungszentrum Jülich supported by Helmholtz Information & Data Science Academy (HIDA), will host their annual GPU Hackathon from 2nd-11th September 2026. These hackathons are multi-day, hands-on coding events that help computational scientists and researchers port, accelerate, and optimise their own real-world applications on data center architectures. Participants are paired with dedicated, expert mentors and work together to tackle computational bottlenecks, optimise HPC and AI workloads, and realise performance gains and speedups using a variety of programming models, libraries, and tools. The Hackathon will utilize JUPITER, Europe’s first Exascale system hosted at Forschungszentrum Jülich, equipped with 24,000 NVIDIA GH200 Grace Hopper™ Superchips. Access to JURECA-DC, a smaller-scale system, will also be provided.
