About this hackathon
About the Hackathon
Join us for a hands-on hardware innovation hackathon where ideas meet real-world engineering. In collaboration with Vicharak, participants will explore the capabilities of the Shrike-Fi development board, combining microcontroller-based computing, programmable logic, and wireless connectivity to develop innovative solutions.
The hackathon is open to creative ideas across embedded systems, IoT, robotics, automation, intelligent systems, and other hardware-oriented applications. Participants are encouraged to experiment, collaborate, and turn their concepts into working prototypes.Track 1: Edge AI & TinyML
Build intelligent, on-device systems that can process sensor data and make predictions or decisions locally. Projects may include gesture recognition, predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, smart sensing, or lightweight classification.
Teams should explain how the Shrike-Fi board will support their solution through on-device inference, sensor processing, wireless communication, or hardware–software integration.Track 2: Smart Systems, IoT & Automation
Develop innovative connected systems for real-world applications in robotics, industrial automation, environmental monitoring, assistive technology, smart devices, or other application domains.
Projects should demonstrate how the Shrike-Fi board's microcontroller, connectivity, GPIO interfaces, or FPGA can contribute to the proposed solution.Track 3: Open Innovation
Have an idea beyond the defined tracks? Propose your own project using the Shrike-Fi board. Teams may explore any domain, provided they demonstrate a meaningful role for the board in their design and explain the project's feasibility, implementation approach, and expected impact.
Rules and Guidelines
Each team must register with 2–3 members and select only one competition track.
The project proposal must explain the intended use of the Shrike-Fi board.
Teams must submit original work. Plagiarism, copied submissions, and misrepresentation of project contributions are not permitted.
Teams may use open-source libraries, development tools, and reference designs where appropriate. Any substantial external code or design used must be acknowledged.
Participants must follow the organisers' instructions and handle all provided hardware responsibly.
Teams must not damage, modify, or misuse the provided hardware beyond permitted prototyping activities.
Teams are responsible for bringing any additional components required for their projects unless otherwise specified by the organisers.
The judges' decisions will be final.
The organisers reserve the right to clarify or amend competition guidelines when necessary, with updates communicated to participants.
Important Dates
21 October 2026: On-campus prototyping round for the top 10 teams.
22 October 2026: Final project demonstrations and judging.
