Hackathon Welcome to the Innovation Hackathon, a competition where teams collaborate to develop innovative solutions for the provided problem statements. The task involves creating a Microsoft PowerPoint presentation consisting of a maximum of 8 slides, excluding the Welcome and Thank You slides. It is important to note that the term "Hack" in Hackathon refers to development and creative problem-solving, not any illegal activity. Each Hackathon is unique, with different themes, rules, and participant demographics. Participants are required to provide comprehensive details about their proposed solutions, including relevant technical components such as circuit diagrams, program flowcharts, mechanical designs, models, or other applicable elements. This ensures clarity, thorough understanding, and transparency in presenting their ideas. Success in this competition relies on creativity, originality, innovation, and the ability to effectively address the given problem statement. Detailed Description Phase 1 – Registration and Submission Round Greetings, Participants! We are thrilled to present you with an opportunity to not only showcase your skills but also contribute towards solving significant real-world and global challenges. Each participant/team will receive a set of problem statements from which they must choose one problem statement and develop a suitable solution. Each team can consist of a maximum of 4 members. Female participation in the team is preferable. Originality is key. Any form of plagiarism may result in immediate disqualification. Your presentation should consist of a maximum of 8 slides, excluding the Welcome and Thank You slides, incorporating the following elements wherever applicable: Introduction Problem Understanding Proposed Solution Operational Mechanism / Working Principle Real-World Applications Advantages and Limitations Cost Analysis Future Scope Depending on the nature of your chosen problem statement, clearly present the relevant technical depth, such as: Circuit Diagram Program Flowchart Working Mechanism Chemical Reaction Mechanical Design or Modeling AI/ML-Based Approach System Architecture Include only the technical elements that are relevant to your proposed solution. Please ensure that the following details are clearly mentioned in your presentation: Name of Team Members College / Institute Name Email ID Contact Number College ID Card, if required Phase 2 – Presentation Round Congratulations to the teams advancing to the Presentation Round! In this phase, teams will have the opportunity to present and pitch their proposed solution before the judges. Each team will have a maximum of 8 minutes to provide a comprehensive explanation of their solution. Teams should clearly explain their proposed solution and its working mechanism and should be prepared to answer questions related to their idea, technical implementation, feasibility, and real-world applications. Be prepared to delve into the intricacies of your presentation and impress the judges with your innovative ideas and thorough understanding of the problem statement. Problem Statements Solar-Based Community Microgrid for Rural Areas Design a decentralized solar-powered microgrid for villages with limited electricity. Analyze technical design, energy storage, load management, cost, and social acceptance. Effective Monitoring and Alternative System to Prevent Stubble Burning Propose a practical solution to monitor and reduce stubble burning in Punjab-Haryana, with alternative uses such as animal feed or biofuel. Groundwater Conservation and Over-Extraction Control System Design an integrated system to control excessive groundwater extraction in agricultural regions using monitoring and awareness mechanisms. Low-Cost Safety and Monitoring System for Elderly Living Alone Develop an affordable monitoring system that detects falls or unusual activity among elderly people and alerts their family members. Transparent and Leakage-Free Public Distribution System (PDS) Design a practical model using biometric and digital tracking to reduce corruption and leakage in the Public Distribution System. Source Segregation and Optimized Waste Collection System Design an efficient urban waste management model that promotes source segregation and optimizes waste collection routes. Affordable Crop Preservation / Cold Storage for Small Farmers Propose a low-cost cold storage or preservation method for vegetables and fruits to reduce post-harvest losses. Mental Health Support System for Schools and Colleges Design a practical and privacy-preserving system that helps students manage mental stress and connects them to appropriate counseling support. Urban Flood Early Warning and Evacuation Planning System Develop an integrated plan for flood prediction and safe evacuation during heavy rainfall in urban areas. Affordable Mobility Assistive Device for Persons with Disabilities Design a low-cost and functional wheelchair or mobility aid with a focus on ergonomics, affordability, and usability. Air Pollution Monitoring and Public Health Alert System for Industrial Areas Propose a system to monitor air quality in industrial zones and provide timely health alerts to nearby residents. Improved Resource Management Model for Hospitals Design a smart management system for the efficient allocation of hospital resources such as beds, oxygen, equipment, and staff. Skill-Based Income Generation Platform for Rural Women Create a platform concept that maps the skills of rural women and connects them with suitable income-generating opportunities. Sustainable Urban Farming Model for Limited Spaces Design a cost-effective model for growing vegetables in limited urban spaces such as rooftops, balconies, or small residential areas. Smart Community Health Monitoring for Water-Borne Diseases in Rural Areas Design an integrated solution for early warning and community health monitoring of water-borne diseases in rural areas. Smart Tourist Safety Monitoring & Incident Response System Design a complete system using AI, Geo-fencing, and Digital ID for tourist safety, especially in hilly or remote regions. Water-Borne Disease Early Warning System (Community Level) Design a system that monitors water quality and basic health indicators to provide early warnings for water-borne diseases. Engineering Innovation Aim: techFEST'26 embraces technical enthusiasts with creative minds. This theme focuses on solving real-world problems using advanced technology. Students can showcase their innovative ideas related to: Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Engineering Innovation Sustainability Judgement Criteria Stage 1 – Presentation Round: 70% Stage 2 – Questioning Round: 30% The judging process will be conducted at the complete discretion of the Judging Committee, and their decision will be final and binding. Team Specification Each team can have a maximum of 4 members. Participants from any institute and any academic branch may participate, provided they possess a valid ID card from their respective institute. Female participation in the team is preferable but not mandatory. While registering, each team must select a unique team name that should not be inappropriate, offensive, or conflicting with another team's name. Each team must specify a Team Representative with whom Team techFEST'26 can communicate regarding further information and notices. Each team can register only once using their official institutional email ID (SLIET G-Suite ID, wherever applicable). Rules and Regulations The decision of the judges will be final. One participant can be a member of only one team. Participants must maintain proper decorum throughout the event. Every member of the team must participate in the presentation. All doubts and queries should be clarified before the event. Any form of plagiarism or unfair practice may lead to disqualification. Teams must follow all instructions provided by Team techFEST'26. Certification Policy Certificate of Excellence will be awarded to the top-performing teams. Participation Certificates will be provided to all eligible participants. Prize distribution will be based on the points assigned by the judging panel. Important Note All participants must follow the registration guidelines provided by Team techFEST'26. The organizers reserve the right to modify the rules, prize pool, dates, venue, or timing of the competition if deemed necessary under unforeseen circumstances. All guidelines are subject to change. Participants are advised to regularly check the official techFEST'26 website and social media platforms for updates. Any changes or announcements will be posted through official channels.
