About this hackathon
About Hack N Build 2026
Hack N Build 2026 is a premier national-level hardware hackathon organized by Electronica, the official club of the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) at SRMIST, Delhi NCR Campus. Designed to bridge the gap between digital design and practical hardware execution, this competition pushes student teams from circuit simulation to building fully functional hardware prototypes live on campus.
Prizes & Rewards
Total Prize Pool: Cash prizes worth ₹50,000+ alongside exclusive tech goodies for top-performing teams.
Certificates: National-level participation certificates for all registered teams and merit certificates for winners.
Eligibility & Team Guidelines
Eligibility: Open to all undergraduate engineering students.
Team Size: Teams must consist of 3 to 5 members. Solo participation is strictly prohibited.
Cross-Disciplinary Teams: Interdepartmental teams (e.g., combining ECE, CSE, IT, and Mechanical students) are highly encouraged.
Registration Fee: ₹200 per team.
Technical Tracks
Participants must select or design a solution aligned with one of the four competition domains:
Track 1: Smart Campus & Energy Management (IoT, Microgrids, Relay Protection)
Track 2: MedTech & Assistive Wearables (Embedded Sensors, Haptic Feedback)
Track 3: Robotics & Autonomous Systems (Rovers, Motor Drivers, Microcontrollers)
Track 4: Open Innovation (AgriTech, Industrial Automation, Environmental Monitoring)
Stages and Timeline
Registration Phase: Closes on September 25, 2026.
Round 1: Virtual Pitch & Ideation (Online)
Date: September 26, 2026
Platform: Google Meet
Format: Each team receives a 10-minute slot (7-minute pitch + 3-minute technical Q&A).
Deliverables: Present a slide deck detailing your problem statement, system block diagram, Bill of Materials (BOM), and CAD circuit model/simulation (TinkerCAD, EasyEDA, Proteus, Fritzing, etc.).
Bonus Points: Functional digital circuit simulations earn extra evaluation points.
Selection: Top 20 to 25 teams advance to the offline final.
Round 2: The Hardware Showcase & Final Build (Offline)
Date: October 7, 2026
Venue: Peter F. Drucker Hall & Microprocessor Lab, SRMIST Delhi NCR Campus
Format: On-campus build session, hardware assembly, circuit wiring, live testing, and prototype presentation to a panel of expert faculty judges.
Evaluation Criteria
Round 1 (Online): Technical Design & Simulation (50%), Innovation & Concept (30%), Presentation & Defense (20%).
Round 2 (Offline): Hardware Execution & Wiring (50%), Presentation & Defense (35%), Innovation & Concept (15%).
Important Rules & Guidelines
Original Work: Projects must be built specifically for Hack N Build 2026. Submitting pre-existing semester projects or pre-assembled DIY kits results in immediate disqualification.
Know Your Build: Judges reserve the right to cross-examine team members on their codebase, microcontroller logic, and physical circuit paths.
Hardware Requirements: Shortlisted teams must bring their own components, development boards (Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, etc.), laptops, and cables to the offline venue.
