Smackathon – 24-Hour Hackathon | UPSURGE
Smackathon is the flagship 24-hour hackathon organized by the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at Yeshwantrao Chavan College of Engineering (YCCE) as part of its annual technical fest, UPSURGE. Conducted successfully for the past four years, it brings together students to solve real-world challenges through innovation, collaboration, and technology.
Participants work in teams to build solutions based on problem statements across predefined tracks within a 24-hour timeframe. The event fosters creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, and hands-on learning while providing a platform for students to showcase their technical skills and develop impactful solutions.

On-Demand Online Participation
Available only to shortlisted teams with a genuine reason for being unable to attend offline.
Teams must email the organizers with proof supporting their reason between 29 Jul – 31 Jul 2026.
Online slots are limited; approval is not guaranteed even for valid requests.
Teams will receive a confirmation mail by 1 Aug 2026 stating whether their request is accepted or not.
Teams should complete registration according to their confirmed mode (online/offline) by 3 Aug 2026.
Confirmed online teams participate in Round 1 and the Grand Finale via live video call/remote demonstration during the same time windows as offline teams.
Teams who don't wish to request online participation can register directly for the offline round once results are declared.
Rules & Regulations
Each team must consist of 3–5 members.
A participant may be part of only one team.
All submitted ideas and prototypes must be original.
Use of open-source libraries is permitted with proper attribution.
Shortlisted teams must complete offline registration on our official platform before the deadline.
Accommodation will be provided only to teams that opt for it during offline registration on our official platform.
Online participation is granted only on request, with valid supporting proof, subject to limited slot availability; approval is at the organizers' discretion.
Teams must carry valid student ID cards during offline rounds.
Projects must be developed around the chosen problem statement.
Teams must regularly push code to the designated Git repository.
Judges' decisions will be final and binding.
Any plagiarism, misconduct, or damage to venue property will result in immediate disqualification.
Organizers reserve the right to modify schedules in case of unforeseen circumstances.
Teams must adhere to event timings and reporting instructions.
Failure to appear for evaluation at the allotted time may lead to disqualification.
By participating, teams consent to photography and media coverage for promotional purposes.
All shortlisted teams attending the offline event must submit a signed consent form (to be sent via email to selected teams).
Guidelines / Important Notes
Round 0 is completely free.
Offline participation fee: ₹599 per team (only for shortlisted teams), payable on our official platform.
Accommodation is optional and comes with additional charges per member, over and above the ₹599 registration fee.
Only the top teams from Round 1 proceed to the Grand Finale.
Confirmed online teams must ensure stable internet and video connectivity for live judging sessions.
Winners will be announced after the final jury evaluation.
Round Details
Round 0 – Online Screening (Elimination Round)
Teams select one problem statement.
Submit a PPT describing the problem understanding, proposed solution, technology stack, feasibility, innovation, implementation roadmap, and expected impact.
Only shortlisted teams advance.
Round 1 – Offline Prototype Development
Conducted at the host campus.
Teams develop a functional prototype within the hackathon duration.
Continuous mentoring and judging.
Top teams will qualify.
Grand Finale
Finalists enhance their prototype overnight.
Jury evaluation includes live demonstration, technical depth, scalability, business potential, UI/UX, innovation, and Q&A.
Top 3 teams are selected.
