Online participation possible. Let's hack the future — together. TUM Science Hackathon TeamQ&AWho can participate? Students and recent graduates from any university and discipline (e.g., engineering, science, design, business, humanities) are welcome. Whether you’re into AI, cybersecurity, data science, or any field, if you’re curious, creative, and eager to solve real-world challenges, join us! What skills are needed? No coding or specific technical skills are required—just bring enthusiasm, collaboration, and a passion for problem-solving. We value diverse backgrounds (e.g., design, research, business, storytelling) for interdisciplinary solutions. Mentorship and workshops will support you throughout the event. How do teams work? Everyone’s welcome — whether you're flying solo or already part of a team! • Already in a team? Perfect! You can register together (max. 6 people) using the same team name• No team yet? No worries — apply solo and we’ll help you form or join a team during the Orientation Event Teams of 3–6 participants can be formed at the orientation or registered in advance. During the Matching Phase, each team will be assigned to one of six real-world challenges provided by TUM partners — based on your skills, interests, and preferences. You don’t need to bring your own idea — challenge hints will be released ~2 weeks before the event, with full details revealed at the orientation. We’re looking for diverse skill sets and perspectives to create innovative, impactful solutions. What are the challenges? The Sciencehack features six real-world societal or scientific challenges provided by TUM partner companies and chairs. Hints and teasers about the challenges will be announced two weeks before the orientation event, with detailed information revealed during the orientation itself, ensuring a fair and exciting start. Are food and drinks provided? Yes, snacks, and beverages are provided, with dietary restrictions accommodated—just inform us during registration. What is the cost? Free! All accepted participants enjoy meals, drinks, a great venue, and mentorship at no cost.
