About this hackathon
Rules & Guidelines:
Team Structure:
Each team must consist of a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 5 members.
Cross-college teams are allowed—participants from different institutions can team up.
Model Regulations:
Each team must use its own custom-built or custom-configured drone wrapped in a protective cage/exoskeleton; exchanging models or components between teams during match rounds is strictly prohibited.
Standard RTF (Ready-To-Fly) commercial consumer drones are not allowed, though pre-programmed flight controllers and stabilization boards are permitted.
Only one main drone model can be used throughout all competition rounds.
Flight and Conduct Rules:
No trial attempts are allowed in Round 1, but teams will receive a 2-minute warm-up/trial period before Round 2 matches.
Lifting or repositioning the drone manually during active gameplay is strictly prohibited.
A drone that crashes and is unable to take off within the allotted restart window immediately forfeits that specific attempt or round.
The competition organizers and judges hold the final decision on all match rules, scoring disputes, and safety calls.
Event Structure:
Round 1: Drone Soccer Arena Showdown:
Obstacle & Defender Navigation: Teams must pilot their caged drones through an active arena featuring physical obstacles and designated opponent defense zones.
Goal Scoring Task:
Teams must navigate their drone past defensive barricades and maneuver it cleanly through the elevated circular Goal Ring to score points.
Each successful goal scored within the match time earns points based on precision and execution.
If a goal attempt fails, misses, or bounces off the goal frame, no points are awarded, but no negative penalty is incurred. Teams can immediately reset and attempt another run.
Match Execution: Matches are conducted in timed sprints where agility, mid-air defense, collision recovery, and scoring accuracy determine the final winners.
