CyberX’26 – “Read Between the Bytes” is a National-Level Capture The Flag (CTF) Competition organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (Cyber Security), RNS Institute of Technology, Bengaluru, as part of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of RNSIT.
The event is designed to provide students with a practical and competitive cybersecurity environment where they can apply their skills to solve security challenges, analyze vulnerabilities, investigate digital artifacts, and capture hidden flags.
CyberX’26 follows a Hybrid CTF format combining Jeopardy-style challenges with a Vulnerable Machine / Boot2Root final round.
The competition consists of three rounds:
Round 1 – RECON
Jeopardy CTF with Easy to Medium challenges covering Reconnaissance, OSINT, Web Security, Cryptography, Digital Forensics, and Basic Network Security.
Round 2 – EXPLOIT
Advanced Jeopardy CTF with Medium to Hard challenges covering Web Exploitation, Cryptography, Digital Forensics, Network Security, Reverse Engineering, and Binary Exploitation.
Round 3 – ZERO HOUR
A Vulnerable Machine / Boot2Root round where teams must perform reconnaissance, enumeration, vulnerability identification, authorized exploitation, privilege escalation, and flag capture within an isolated competition environment.
CyberX’26 follows a non-elimination format. Every registered team participates in all three rounds, and scores are accumulated throughout the competition. Final rankings are determined based on the total cumulative score.
