Software used to be a tool you owned. Now it's mostly something that's done to you: apps that harvest your data, platforms that lock you in, maybe you came last time and heard the spiel. Today - it's all about taking the plunge together. This is intended to be dedicated time to break habits of convenience by onboarding ourselves onto a new tool or stack of choice — and evaluating honest alternatives rather than picking the boring defaults. No technical background required. Install the productivity tooling that serves YOU, not the tooling provider. Upskill yourself - take your future into your own hands. Whether you're an early adopter, eager to drop your boring old productivity setup for the newest and greatest — or you're a Luddite looking to return to pre-LLM tooling choices that steer clear of antifeatures — this event is for you. Title inspired by my coworker's recap of my pitch: "it's like cold plunge, except instead of the ocean, it's that super confusing tutorial which is probably not all that bad and you've just been putting it off for various reasons" Bring: laptop, charger, patience Optional: AI subscription of choice to help guide you through setup. Buddies for encouragement. Prep: 1 or more tools, technologies, apps, or services you'd like to try out; and, ideally, a suitable purpose or problem you'd like to solve for yourself. We will provide: food, snacks, wifi, buddies for encouragement, and, if you don't have any ideas, we're happy to point you to punk tools, technologies, apps, or services we can recommend. --- Agenda for the day: 1pm: show up and start plunging! 4pm: tea time, we'll have some snacks, share what we onboarded onto, and what was exciting or painful, and if we'd recommend it to others after teatime: Talk to some buddies and try onboarding onto whatever they're trying out! 6:30pm ish: dinner provided 7-10pm: hanging out, hacking, general coworking --- Imbue is an AI company building software that belongs to you. We’re building toward an open agent ecosystem where you can understand, modify, and verify AI agents, so they only work in your interest. Learn about our work and what we stand for: www.imbue.com
