GDG IIITA Presents OOSC 4.0 Hackathon
Welcome to the OOSC 4.0 Hackathon, organized by the Google Developer Group (GDG), Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Allahabad.
The OOSC 4.0 Hackathon is a premier innovation challenge designed for passionate developers, designers, and innovators. It provides a platform to transform ambitious ideas into impactful solutions while competing alongside talented teams from across the country.

About OOSC:
The Opportunity Open Source Conference (OOSC) is an international conference dedicated to advancing the Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) ecosystem. It brings together developers, open-source maintainers, researchers, students, industry leaders, and technology enthusiasts from around the world to collaborate, exchange ideas, and drive innovation through open source. Each edition features technical talks, hands-on workshops, panel discussions, community sessions, and hackathons, creating an environment where learning meets real-world collaboration.
Hosted annually at leading academic institutions across India, previous editions of OOSC have been successfully organized at IIT Mandi and IIT Kanpur. The fourth edition will be hosted at IIIT Allahabad from 28th to 30th August 2026, continuing its mission of empowering contributors and strengthening the global open-source community.
Hackathon Format:
The competition will be conducted in two phases.
Phase 1 – Online Prototype Submission:
Teams will work on their solutions remotely and submit a working prototype before the submission deadline.
Timeline:
Registrations Open: 7th August 2026
Prototype Submission: 15th August – 23rd August 2026
Registration Deadline: 21st August 2026
Shortlisted Teams Announced: 26th August 2026
The top 15 teams will advance to the finale.
Phase 2 – Offline Finale at IIIT Allahabad:
The shortlisted teams will be invited to the IIIT Allahabad campus to present their projects before an expert panel of judges.
Every shortlisted team will receive a significant discount on OOSC Conference passes, allowing participants to attend one of Uttar Pradesh's largest flagship open-source technical events.
The conference will be held from 28th to 30th August 2026, featuring renowned speakers, technical sessions, networking opportunities, and community interactions.
The hackathon finale will take place in hybrid mode on 30th August 2026.
Team Size:
2–3 members per team
Eligibility:
The hackathon is open to everyone.
Students from any college, university, or academic background are welcome to participate.

Hackathon Registration: Free
Attendance at the OOSC Conference requires a valid conference pass.
Problem Statements:
Problem statements will be released separately. They will span multiple domains and encourage participants to develop innovative, practical, and impactful solutions.

Rules:
Each team must consist of 2–3 members.
A participant may be part of only one team.
All submissions must be original work created during the hackathon.
Any form of plagiarism or unfair practice will result in immediate disqualification.
Teams must adhere to all deadlines announced by the organizers.
The decision of the judges and the organizing committee will be final and binding.
