Decode the Ocean: A Hackathon for Young Builders

Join the KINN, Imagi, Lovable, the Venice High School, the World Genome Academy, Oxford Nanopore, the United Nations, and the Venice Neighborhood Council to discover how technology is being leveraged to protect the coast we call home. Discover vibe coding: a new way to create software by describing what you want in plain language and letting AI turn your ideas into working code. The workshop is tailored for high school and middle school builders. Our café will be open during the event for parents and guardians. If you would like to join as a volunteer, we'd love to have you! Using classroom-safe Lovable x imagi accounts, participants will design and build an original game or app that teaches a concept they're passionate about, helps a specific audience solve a problem, or tackles a real-world issue in their community. Design something the neighborhood can actually use to protect its own beach. 2) Read the ocean's code — from species to cures. Turn the eDNA and sequencing work into tools the community and researchers can read. 3) Turn the ocean into art.
