Hedera Hashathon: Nairobi Edition Welcome to the Hedera Hashathon: Nairobi Edition, an exciting hackathon dedicated to bringing Hedera’s innovative blockchain solutions to Kenya. In collaboration with Kenya Tech Events, Nairobi Stock Exchange, and Virtual Assets Chamber, we invite developers, entrepreneurs, and innovators to build groundbreaking solutions that leverage Hedera’s powerful network. Our goal is to empower local innovation, enhance blockchain adoption, and drive transformative change across AI, Capital Markets, and decentralised applications. Timeline Online Hacking Phase (24th March - 30th March) - Participants collaborate remotely to develop innovative solutions. - Virtual mentorship, online office hours, and scheduled in-person meetups will provide networking and support opportunities. Judging Period (31st March - 11th April) - Submissions reviewed by the expert panel from Hashgraph and Kenya Tech Events. - Finalist teams are selected and invited to present at Demo Day. Demo Day at University of Nairobi (Saturday, 12th April; All Hackers invited!) - Inspirational talks from Hedera, Nairobi Stock Exchange, and partners. - Finalist teams pitch their solutions live. - Winners announced, prize distribution, networking session, refreshments, and media coverage. Prizes - 1st Place: $3,500 - 2nd Place: $2,000 - 3rd Place: $1,000 - 4th Place: $500 Top Capital Markets projects will have a special opportunity for incubation support, mentorship, and regulatory guidance from Nairobi Stock Exchange and Virtual Assets Chamber to further develop their solutions into viable market-ready products. Guiding Questions Participants are encouraged to explore solutions around these three tracks: 1. AI Agents - How can AI agents, powered by Hedera, enhance automation, security, and efficiency in decentralised applications? 2. Capital Markets - How can Hedera transform the way capital markets operate, making them more accessible, transparent, and efficient for investors and institutions? 3. Hedera Explorer - What groundbreaking applications can be built on Hedera to redefine how we interact with digital assets, data, and decentralised systems? Support & Resources Join our community channels for announcements, technical support, and networking: - Hedera Discord (Announcements & Support) - Hedera Nairobi Telegram Community Participants will have access to extensive resources: - Hedera Documentation - 6-Part Hedera Upskilling Sessions - Hedera YouTube Channel - Hedera Hackathon Resources - Hedera AI Agent Kit - Hedera Eliza Plugin Additionally, mentorship sessions, office hours, and community engagement activities will provide direct support. Submission Requirements All submissions must include: - GitHub repository link(s) - Application / Smart Contracts deployed on Hedera Testnet - Video demonstration (max 5 minutes) - Presentation slides (optional) Judging Criteria Projects will be evaluated based on: - Innovation: Originality and novelty within the Hedera ecosystem. - Feasibility: Practicality, sustainable business model, and ability to deploy. - Execution: Quality of project development and delivery. - Integration: Depth and significance of Hedera integration. - Validation: External validation, market feedback, user traction, and potential partnerships. - Success: Potential impact on the Hedera ecosystem’s growth and adoption. - Pitch: Effectiveness in communicating the solution, market opportunity, and future plans.
