Note that this is an in-person event Challenge: What bio tools can you build in 2.5 hours!? Concept: We have much diverse talent in BiB, so we thought it would be fun to create a hackathon to inspire what is possible with today’s technology to (vibe)code software to answer biological questions - for just yourself, your team, or your organization to help with data entry, literature search, visualizations, experiment planning and much more... We will provide mentoring and inspiration to get you started. Afterwards out start working in small teams in a relaxed atmosphere on something that excites you. You bring: Own laptop + Claude/Codex/Lovable… set up. Amass (our sponsor) brings: Free API credits to their bio data architecture; drinks and food. Agenda 16.30 - 16.45: Welcome 16.45 - 17.00: Challenge intro and intro to Amass API 17.00 - 17.20: Inspiration (what can you build?) facilitated by our mentors: Vivek Das, Principal Scientist at Novo Nordisk, who built various literature and trial exploration tools - even just for himself.Sam Aidt Garrett, CTO & Head of Finance at Visibuilt, who is building a whole range of software applications (without a software background!) from financial models, to bio-production monitors, and personal assistants. 17.20 - 17.30: Form teams 17.30 - 19.00: Build 19.00 - 19.30: Presentations and common vote Bits in Bio Bits in Bio is a global community building software for science. We welcome software people interested in solving problems in biology, bio people wanting to use software in the lab, and everybody in between. We look forward to seeing you!
