About this hackathon
A Vibe Coding Hackathon by Frontend Arena:
The Frontend Odyssey 2026 is a free, individual-only frontend development hackathon designed for developers who love turning ideas into engaging digital experiences.
This is not a traditional coding competition. It is a Vibe Coding Hackathon where participants can use modern AI-assisted coding and development tools to transform a given problem statement into a polished, functional frontend experience.
Hackathon Structure:
The hackathon consists of 2 rounds.
Round 1 — The Selection
Participants will register individually and submit their resume during the registration process.
Our team will review applications based on the participant's:
Frontend development skills
Projects and practical experience
GitHub / Portfolio
Technical background
Overall profile
Based on the screening, selected participants will be invited to Round 2.
Round 2 — The Odyssey | 48 Hours
Selected participants will receive one common problem statement.
Participants will have 48 hours to design and develop their solution.
The challenge is completely frontend-focused, giving participants the freedom to decide how they want to approach the problem and create their digital experience.
Vibe Coding Rules:
Participants are encouraged to use modern development and AI-assisted coding tools.
Allowed:
HTML, CSS, JavaScript
React, Next.js, Vue, Angular and other frontend frameworks
Tailwind CSS and UI libraries
AI coding assistants
Vibe coding tools
Design and prototyping tools
Open-source frontend libraries
Not Allowed:
Backend development
Databases
Server-side applications
Backend APIs
External backend services
Any backend-dependent functionality
The submitted project must function as a frontend-only application.
Participation:
Participation is individual only.
No teams are allowed.
The hackathon is completely free to participate.
Participants from different colleges, universities, and backgrounds are welcome to participate.
Important Rules:
Each participant must participate individually.
Only one submission is allowed per participant.
The project must be developed according to the given problem statement.
The solution must be frontend-only.
Backend, databases, and backend APIs are strictly prohibited.
AI tools and vibe coding tools are allowed.
Participants must submit their work before the specified deadline.
Plagiarism or direct copying of another participant's work will result in disqualification.
Participants may be required to explain or demonstrate their submitted project.
The decision of the judging panel will be final.
