About this hackathon

Rules and Guidelines for the Non-Routine Mathematics Competition: Welcome to the Online Non-Routine Mathematics Competition. This event aims to challenge your mathematical thinking beyond the standard curriculum. The problems in this competition are designed to test creativity, logical reasoning, pattern recognition, and problem-solving skills. They are non-routine in nature, which means they will require insight, persistence, and sometimes a touch of ingenuity to solve. This is not a test of memorization but of mathematical maturity and flexible thinking. We are excited to have you participate in this intellectually rewarding experience! Join: WhatsApp Group Competition Format: Total Questions: 20 Marks per Question: 1 mark Total Marks: 20 Time Allotted: 120 minutes Mode: Online (browser-based platform or uploaded answer file depending on setup) Participants are advised to log in to the competition platform at least 5 minutes before the scheduled start time. Late entry may result in loss of time or disqualification. Technical Requirements: To participate, ensure the following: A stable internet connection A charged or plugged-in device (preferably a laptop or computer) A supported web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge) Access credentials or login link, as provided by the organizers Camera and microphone enabled (if proctoring is required) We recommend using a quiet and well-lit environment to avoid distractions or technical interruptions. Guidelines During the Competition: Be ready 5 minutes before the exam begins. This means logged in, tested, and seated. No mobile phones, or smartwatches are allowed unless explicitly permitted. Use of external help (books, search engines, AI tools, friends, or forums) is strictly prohibited. Participants must not switch tabs during the exam if platform monitoring is in use. Keep your camera on at all times if video proctoring is implemented. Rough work may be done using physical paper (visible if asked) or an online whiteboard provided. You may submit answers directly on the platform or upload scanned sheets if that's part of the process. No communication is allowed with other participants during the exam. Only one submission is allowed unless stated otherwise. Timer and auto-submission: Once 120 minutes are up, the platform will either auto-submit or block submissions. Answering and Evaluation: Each question carries 1 mark. There is no negative marking unless clearly specified. All answers must follow the format requested (e.g., simplified fraction, integer, etc.). No partial credit is awarded unless the question explicitly allows for it (e.g., multi-part or proof-style). Clarity matters—avoid ambiguous or incomplete answers. The organizers’ decisions are final regarding evaluation and scoring. Time Management Tips: Participants are encouraged to: Attempt easier questions first to build momentum (first 30–40 minutes). Spend the next 30 minutes on challenging or skipped problems. Use the last 15–20 minutes to review all responses carefully. Do not spend too long on a single problem—mark and revisit if needed. Code of Conduct and Disqualification: By entering this competition, participants agree to: Compete fairly and honestly Follow all instructions provided before and during the competition Avoid all forms of plagiarism or cheating Refrain from seeking help from external tools or persons Participants found violating the rules will be immediately disqualified, and their names may be blacklisted from future events. After the Competition: Results will be published within the timeframe announced. No re-evaluation requests will be entertained unless a technical issue is formally reported. In case of a tie, bonus questions or time-based tiebreakers may be used. Certificates, prizes, or recognitions will be awarded as per the competition's announcement. A surprise Bounty Segment will be introduced during the quiz to add an extra layer of challenge to the competition. Further details will be revealed during the event. Prizes Worth: ₹15,000 INR Instagram Link : https://www.instagram.com/techzephyr.iitbbs/ Ready to Solve? 120 minutes. 20 non-routine problems. Pure mathematical brilliance. Think it. Solve it. Prove your skills. MATH-O-STELLAR — IIT Bhubaneswar
