Rewiring Biology Hackathon July 11 - July 12, 2026 | San Francisco, California Join us for a two day hackathon where ML engineers, AI scientists, and computational biologists build the tools that help science move faster. Event Partners Amazon Web Services (AWS), You.com Background Owkin has spent years building infrastructure and datasets at the intersection of AI and biomedical research. Combined with K Pro, Owkin’s AI Scientist, this creates a rare opportunity to explore how AI can genuinely accelerate the pace of biomedical discovery. What you will build Participants will build MCP tools and agentic components that extend what AI Scientists like K Pro can already do: biological reasoning, hypotheses and insights generation, and semi-autonomous exploration of research spaces. Projects may include: MCP tools and agents that can be integrated in the future into K ProWorkflows that combine spatial and multi-omics data with public biomedical literature and knowledge basesTool-using or multi-agent systems designed for research-style reasoning and analysisNew capabilities that improve biologically grounded hypothesis generation and scientific question answering Who should apply We're selecting up to 50 participants to form interdisciplinary teams of 2–5 people. Your background and curiosity might be in AI and technology (agentic components, AI workflows, LLM-based reasoning, scientific tooling) or biology (computational biology, bioinformatics, biomedical imaging, and multi-omics data). Example profiles: Applied AI researchersML engineersAgentic software engineersComputational biologists and bioinformaticiansBiomedical researchersBiotech / biopharma product leads Application deadline: June 30, 2026 For more information  about the hackathon, including resources provided and awards, visit https://www.owkin.com/connect/rewiring-biology-hackathon
