AI control research asks a simple question: if an AI system is actively trying to undermine your safety measures, can you still keep it contained? This hackathon is a weekend of building that infrastructure — control protocols, evaluation tools, red-teaming approaches, monitoring systems. We're hosting an in-person hub at AI Safety South Africa: Friday 19:00 - 21:30 — kick-off + live keynote screening Saturday 10:00 - 15:00 — research and development Sunday 10:00 - 15:00 — final development + submissions. We will provide lunch each day. Top projects get prizes and a shot at presenting at ControlConf Berkeley in April. To register: 1. RSVP on luma to let us know you'll be attending our in-person session and then... 2. Register for the hackathon itself here: https://apartresearch.com/sprints/ai-control-hackathon-2026-03-20-to-2026-03-22.
