SmartEarth Hackathon is a 48-hour innovation event happening on June 06-07, 2026 in hybrid mode, at the Center of Excellence in Medical Robotics and Research, Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan in collaboration with Qaz.AI. 2nd SmartEarth Hackathon 2026 invites students, professionals, and tech enthusiasts to ideate, build, and showcase transformative solutions to global challenges. This hackathon is your launchpad to experiment with emerging technologies, collaborate with brilliant minds, and create impact-driven prototypes. Whether you're a seasoned developer, a design thinker, or a curious learner, SmartEarth offers a space to innovate, grow, and connect. Hackathon Themes: Participants are free to choose a specific problem within any of the following domains: Climate Monitoring & Prediction Water Resource Management Renewable Energy Solutions Urban Intelligence: Smart and Sustainable Cities AI & Robotics for Disaster Management AI for Energy Efficiency and Smart Grids Intelligent Healthcare & Medical Robotics Environmental Data Analytics and many more Eligibility: This competition is open to all university students (undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral), working professionals, and technology enthusiasts. No restrictions on age, background, or specialization. Participants from Engineering, Design, Business, Sciences, and other disciplines are welcome. Team Formation: Teams of 2–4 members are mandatory. Inter-college / Inter-organization teams: Allowed and encouraged Inter-specialization teams: Highly encouraged for diverse perspectives Competition Format & Rounds: Round 1: Idea Submission (Shortlisting Round) Teams submit an idea abstract / concept proposal Submissions will be evaluated based on: Innovation & originality Relevance to the chosen theme Feasibility & impact Shortlisted teams will advance to Round 2 Duration: Submit Before June 01, 2026 Round 2: Final Presentation Finalists present their solution in a live virtual demo & pitch session to the judging panel. Presentations will include a demo of the prototype, a Q&A, and discussion of future scope. Misconduct leads to disqualification. All work must be original and created during the hackathon. Open-source tools and APIs are allowed with proper attribution. Teams retain full IP rights. Organizers may showcase projects for non-commercial promotion. Late submissions will not be evaluated.
